Various websites offer you the ability to sign in and/or create an account profile using another digital identity like Google or Facebook. In 2019, Apple introduced Sign in with Apple, a way to ease account creation in apps and websites while maintaining personal data privacy.

Easy Sign-in & Account Creation

Where supported, Sign in with Apple makes it easy sign into a website or app and create a new account. There’s no need to type your name and email because these are already associated with your Apple ID. Neither must you come up with a new password or record these details in a safe place.

When you use Sign in with Apple, you may have the option to choose which details to share. Often the app or website will only ask for your name and email.

Instead of a password, your sign-in is tied to the security of the device you’re using and being signed into your Apple ID. That is, you can use Touch ID, Face ID, or your device passcode to authenticate. You can also choose to trust a web browser for 30 days.

Hide My Email

One of the options in Sign in with Apple is to hide your email. This is useful if you need to receive email to use the service but don’t need the provider to know how to reach you generally. Also, you can easily dispose of a private email and avoid future unwanted messages.

However, if the provider uses your email to identify you in an external database, such as a conference registration, it may be important not to hide this information.

Use Any Device

Once you’ve used Sign in with Apple on one Apple device, you can use any of your other Apple devices to sign into the same apps and websites. It’s that simple.

Secure digital sign-in services are an easy way to avoid the land of passwords. So if creating or remembering passwords makes you crazy, try Sign in with Apple.

You may have noticed, too, that your devices are recommending you choose more secure passwords. Instead of challenging you to generate a new password, some services may offer you to upgrade your account to Sign in with Apple.
