If New Year’s is good for one thing, it’s resolving to do things you can afford to fail to do after a week or two. But at least you can make an effort to experiment with a new habit or routine.

For extra motivation, make your resolution in collaboration with someone else. And keep track of your intentions in a shared note.

Make a Note

Start by creating a note or identifying one you already have. Any note must have some content in it — at least one character — before you can share it.

To ensure your notes and future collaborations are in sync among your devices, make sure Notes is enabled in iCloud settings on each device.

Share a Note

In Notes on macOS, iOS, and iPadOS, after you add some content to a note, you can tap the Add People button the Add People button. Then, decide how you’d like to share and with what permissions.

For example, you can share via Mail or Messages, or you can copy the link after specifying email addresses or phone numbers of recipients. For the sharing to work, these contact details must be tied to their Apple IDs.

Finally, specify what permission recipients have. Invitees can view or also edit shared notes, depending on your setting.

Share a Folder

You can even share a whole folder of notes. Click the More button  next to the folder on the sidebar and choose Share Folder.

Follow the same steps as sharing a note to pick a channel, specify recipients, and set permissions.

To learn more about how to manage notes and their content that you’ve shared or that are shared with you, you’ll find information in the Notes User Guide in Notes’ Help menu or on Apple’s website.
