Getting Savvy with 1Password

Getting Savvy with 1Password is a 3-part series meeting on 25 June at 1:30 pm PT, 2 July at 1:30 pm PT, and 7 July at 11:00 am PT

This workshop is for 1Password users who need a little guidance to clean up their database and want to get better acquainted with the power of 1Password to increase their Internet security. The workshop will be broken into three segments:

A. Creating & Changing Passwords

  1. Creating a secure password for a new account
  2. Resetting a password for an existing account
  3. Navigating websites designed differently to find password/security settings

B. Advanced Login Options

  1. Setting up 2FA with 1Password as the authentication app
  2. Setting up passkeys
  3. How to close an account before deleting a login from 1Password

C. Search, Shortcuts & More

  1. 1Password Quick Access
  2. Using Watchtower to encourage best practices
  3. Use vaults, tags, and collections to organize items and support autofill efficiency
  4. Store more than just logins
  5. Settings to consider enabling

Prerequisites

  1. You must already have a 1Password account with items in your vault and be using 1Password 8
  2. 1Password 8 requires at least macOS 11. To find your version, look in  > About This Mac.
  3. Ensure Zoom is up to date on your Mac: Open Zoom, click the Zoom application menu, Check for Updates, and install whatever is offered.
  4. Be prepared to join a Zoom meeting and share your screen. You will receive a Zoom link after you register. Ensure Zoom is already permitted share your screen (Screen Recording) and to allow screen control (Accessibility). I also recommend setting Zoom to Maintain current size when screen sharing. Review my Zoom page for details.
  5. Peruse some of my 1Password-related posts

If you’re curious about 1Password and want to get started with it, make sure you’ve done so before registering for this workshop. If you need help, do schedule time with me to support this process. We will not have capacity in the group workshop to open a new account, invite members to a family, nor import passwords from other password managers.

Scheduling & Registration

This TEACH workshop will occur over three 75-minute group sessions on Zoom. Registration is $125 for the series. Workshops will be recorded. Any sensitive information displayed in recordings will be blurred or removed.

When I select a time, registration will open for those preregistered. Soon after, if there are still slots available, I’ll post the registration link here for anyone else who wants to join.

Before your first class, I’ll also require you to sign this confidentiality agreement.
